Electro-acupuncture, also known as e-stim, involves the use of a small device connected to acupuncture needles that delivers gentle, painless electromagnetic pulses. While it shares similarities with traditional acupuncture, this method includes electrical stimulation applied to specific needles.
The pulses create a subtle buzzing or tapping sensation, which is generally pleasant. Many of our patients find it so relaxing that they even drift off to sleep during the session. After 20–30 minutes of treatment, you’ll leave feeling deeply relaxed and rejuvenated.
Electroacupuncture is intended to help increase the potential healing effects of standard acupuncture. It works with the gate theory of pain, in which connections in the spinal cord function as “gates” that block pain signals to the brain.
